The EXPO Village at the World Fair in Shanghai is to be built according to the
designs of Düsseldorf architects, Architekturbüro HPP, Hentrich Petschnigg
& Partner. HPP’s design for the 44 ha. site won first prize
against top-level competitors. The winning design will be completed in 2010 and
will be one of the most important building blocks of the Shanghai EXPO. HPP’s master plan will ensure that the EXPO Village
to continue to be used after the World Fair in 2010 as a dynamic new quarter of
the city of Shanghai.
The master plan was developed in HPP’s Shanghai office in close cooperation with the Dusseldorf team. Detailed
design and planning took place in Shanghai
with the assistance of the Tongji Architectural Design and Research Institute.
HPP have had an office in Shanghai for 6 months
now and are well-versed in the complex requirements of producing high-quality
architecture in China.
