Progress on the Rheinhallen in Cologne can clearly be seen from the air; at 160,000 m² GFA, it is currently Europe’s largest construction site. An office complex for around 4,000 employees of RTL and Gerling Insurance’s new owner, Talanx is being constructed within the historical brick walls of the former Cologne exhibition halls. The building that is a listed monument will be completed by 2008 and consists of two five and six storey, comb-shaped structures facing one another. The transparent hall arranged along the north-south axis between the Tanzbrunnen and the historical entrances connects both new buildings. A multi-storey car park with space for 2,000 cars on the North-Eastern side of the Rheinhallen completes the ensemble.
