Foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Lecture Theatre
A modern Communications Centre for the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research
The
Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr had a new lecture
theatre. The building in clear, cubist language is a winning design from HPP
Architects. Dagmar Mühlenfeld, Lady Mayor of Mülheim will attend the foundation
laying ceremony on 26 January 2009.
The new building with around 1,800 m² GFA will stand between the administration
building and the listed laboratory building on the institute campus and will
house the lecture theatre, seminar rooms and the exhibition rooms and will also
form the new main public entrance.
Construction is due to conclude in December 2009 and it is planned that the
building can be used from March 2010 onwards.
