HPP Architects have won the European-wide competition to plan the German Soccer Museum (DFB-Fussballmuseum) in Dortmund. Today was contract signing. The museum’s concept is based on the exhibition’s motto: “Football is coming home” and celebrates the myth of soccer in an elevated, cutting-edge box of 7.000 sqm GFA size, directly located to the central station of Dortmund and in extension of the city’s cultural mile. The inner is based on a concept of a “continuous space”, the outer appearance is determined by a perforated metal façade with a pattern of a traditional football. These fields can be differently displayed in completion to the large-size flatscreen on the box’s front. The entire concept originates excitement, emotion and dynamics.
