On the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2011, Henkel are opening a temporary Concept Store for Schwarzkopf, from 16th April to 14th May, on one of the lawns on the Graf-Adolf-Platz in Düsseldorf. HPP Architects produced the design from Karl Lagerfeld’s concept and have completed the design and construction of the project in just four months. The building consists of a light steel construction with a back-lit facade and corresponding interior fit-out. All materials are re-usable and designed such that they can be assembled anywhere in the world. All traces of the structure’s temporary presence will be removed once the building has been dismantled, thus avoiding any impact on the environment. The façade lighting will enable the external appearance of the pavilion to be adjusted in order to achieve the highest visibility, by day and by night. The façade consists of a white-coated Backlight-Foil made up of 60 pieces that enable the cube to shine brightly without casting shadows.
