HPP Architects are re-designing the former Lufthansa Tower on the Deutzer Rheinufer in Cologne.
One and a half years after the demolition works began, the topping-out ceremony was held at the maxCologne building in the presence of Cologne’s Lord Mayor, Juergen Roters. HPP Architects won the competition to re-design the facade of the former Lufthansa Tower. The brief for the competition, organised by HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung GmbH in 2009, was to design a contemporary facade for the 70’s complex. On completion at the end of 2012, the tower will provide the headquarters for Lanxess, for whom HPP have already provided the tenant expansion design with more than 48,000 m² of leasable space.
