



This design that took first prize in the design competition for the Cologne Stadtsparkasse, faces the mediaeval Hahnentor and by including the existing Sparkasse building, it closes the gap and completes Rudolfplatz. The architectural centrepiece of the building is a 32 meter high glazed rotunda with two six-storey buildings set at right-angles to each other and that are linked both visually and practically. The rotunda, clad in natural stone, functions as the starting point in all areas of the building.
The sophisticated design of the forecourt includes waterfalls that are illuminated at night and which visually complete the public space opposite the building, linking it to the square below.
