This post-war era building with its perforated, filigree façade set the trend for German architecture in the 1950’s. The “Drahthaus” (Wirehouse) was built from 1951 – 1952 for the Wire Manufacturing Trade Association and is situated on Kaiserswerther Straße in the Golzheim district of Düsseldorf. The minimal, rectangular floor plan of this free-standing building consists of a double-loaded corridor; the foyer on the ground floor is set at right-angles to the centrally posi-
tioned corridor. The building has a flat hipped-roof, which is not visible from the street due to the projecting roof at third floor level.
