For many years an unsightly souvenir store disturbed the unencumbered view of Leipzig’s world-renowned Thomaskirche (Church of St. Thomas) in Leipzig. But what could be done with this otherwise necessary facility? After several unsuccessful attempts were made, a suggestion was put forward that proved acceptable to all parties concerned. The project that resulted from this is an almost dematerialized glass cube, which in spite of the limited spatial context does not have a cramped feeling. It is a building structure reduced to a single material and a few details.
